Kids Navigating Life

Kids Navigating Life, is a must have for every classroom, home, and young person. This is perhaps the most influential teaching and learning tool that has been developed in all my twenty-seven years of teaching. Kids Navigating Life will be a vital tool in the development of our children’s lives for years to come. There is nothing like this -- an extraordinary piece of work that is long overdue." -- DeLores Pressley, Former Educator, International Speaker and Author, Principal, BornSuccessful Consultants, www.bornsuccessful.com

Mental Health Professionals: "We must teach our youth population how to manage their lives more effectively and to cope with adversities productively. Kids Navigating Life is the perfect tool for any therapist. It provides the fundamentals for our youths mental and emotional well being. Without these skills, our youth can't succeed in life."

Drug & Alcohol Treatment Staff: "What better way for parents to interact with their children on visiting day. We've searched for something meaningful for visiting day. Kids Navigating Life workbook series provides a positive, learning environment for all."

Military dependents: "These kids need these skills to cope with the many challenges they face. These workbooks should be mandatory for each child in every family. It's the best tool I've seen to help our military families flourish in the face of adversity."

Kids Navigating Life was conceived during my many interviews for Women Navigating Adversity: The Courage They Didn't Know They Had. It's a book profiling a dozen everyday women and how they managed or overcame adversity in their lives. Many expressed how invaluable it would have been had they had the life skill knowledge and training when they were growing up. They would have been able to avoid or deal with life's unexpected and unwelcomed events faster and better. And too, some acknowledged that they wouldn't have made some of the choices they did had they had a better understanding of how to make good decisions and how to problem solve effectively. Good relationships were a primary key to overcoming their challenges, yet few had the skill knowledge necessary to understand how to develop these relationships and use them as resources.

Note: Level 1, in most cases, would be appropriate for learners in grades K-3; Level 2: 4-6; Level 3: 7&8; Level 4: 9-12.

Living Well, Working Smart

Living Well, Working Smart
What people are saying about Living Well, Working Smart:
"What I like about this book is it applies to all of us."
"Finally, I can give the book, cite the page my employees need to read and the skill they need to work on."
"This is the most comprehensive skills book on the market."
"It should be in everyone’s collection of reference books."
"It is a powerful and simple book to learn from. Every kid should know these skills and how to use them. The format is easy and readily understandable."

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - those quantifiable "hard" skills on your resume that "validate" your suitability for a certain job or career - are important to achieving professional success. But the benefits of education and experience can be neutralized if not complemented by another, just as essential set - that of "soft" skills.

Soft skills are those that, when acquired and applied, influence attitude, behavior, and character in a positive way. They work synergistically with hard skills to create a powerful vehicle that moves you toward your goals. However, while hard skills are easily measured, soft skills are more difficult to assess and sometimes perceived as "open to interpretation" - a common rationale used by those who tend to apply these skills on a "sliding scale."

In Living Well, Working Smart, authors Sue Mackey and Laura Tonkin remove any ambiguity surrounding the validity and application of soft skills. For each soft skill they cite - forty-one in all, ranging from leadership to managing anger to developing trust - they present a clear picture of the responsibilities and rewards inherent to each skill. The wryly humorous Mistakes to Avoid and the introspective Steps to Success accompanying each skill add both spice and specific guidelines for making these skills your own.

Living Well, Working Smart is written with a clarity of vision that both inspires and engages the reader. Embrace the soft skills you find within these pages, and find yourself on the path to personal and professional success.

The Honey-Do Survival Guide

Honey-Do Survival Guide
What adults and children are saying about The Honey-Do Survival Guide:
"I loved this book! It should have its own following!"
"We laughed at ourselves as we read it. It helped us not take things so seriously."
"I had to buy it for my newly married friends."
"It helps me remember how to do my chores."

The Honey-Do Survival Guide idea originated during a performance standards focus group with employees from Honeywell, Intel, HP and several others when one of the participants suggested that the authors consider doing a course to "develop spouse standards." Another participant said, "It would cut down on the grief we get from our wives if you did." With that, the group erupted into applause and high fives. Although the group consisted mostly of men, the few women in attendance chimed in, echoing their support of the concept. Hence, The Honey-Do Survival Guide was born.

The Honey-Do Survival Guide is written to cut down on grief and frustrations between spouses and also with kids when asked to clean up their rooms, as well as other household chores.

The book outlines steps to follow and standards to perform so that a spouse can stop muttering, "I should have done it myself". Thanks to the book, discover harmony at home!
